HTML-Kit

This program is a good free editor to work with html and css files. Light years past using the simple notepad program. Features include:

• One program to write code and preview the web page
• Easy folder and file access
• Integrated ftp (file transfer protocol) to upload or work online
• Startup templates
• Color coded text in editor window (helps debugging)
• Graphical color picker
• Several typing aids
• CSS Selector and Property List

After  HTML-Kit is installed, to set up a connection to the web (one time setup) go to the main menu of HTML-Kit and select Workspace > Add Folder/FTP Server > Add FTP Server...
You will get the following screen. Enter the text highlighted in yellow and leave the default values of the rest of the settings.

Paint.Net

This program is an excellent free image editor. Requirements include having one of Windows XP/2003 Server/Vista for an operating system and having the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.
